The good life is truly reachable

Why ask yourself questions? As Tim Ferris aptly notes, reality is largely negotiable. If you are brave enough to get out of your comfort zone and stress-test your boundaries, you will quickly discover that most limitations are a fragile collection of socially reinforced rules you can choose to break at any time. It is cliche to say that sky is the limit. However, the limit is usually far beyond where we initially place it. I do not want to use to extreme an example here, but this realisation has struck me in particular after reading two books about concentration camps this year. The two books are Man’s Search for Meaning by Victor E. Frankl and The Happiest Man on Earth by Eddie Jaku (review) — great books, I tell you. None of the two authors would believe that they would survive the camp when they entered, a point that they make repeatedly, and yet both survived to tell their story. It always gives me a kick to think that people have survived much, much tougher challenges than I face.

I have several frequent readers of my blog who are also avid readers of Tim Ferris. Those people might realise that I borrowed the title of this article from him. In fact, I have also borrowed some questions. In line with Tim’s “work smart not hard” approach to life I think he would be happy about this idea for recycling his work. For original, see link.
